EDMONTON - A driver in Edmonton has died after his car slammed into a light pole, which police allege was caused by an impaired driver going the wrong way.

The Edmonton Police Service says its officers were dispatched early Saturday to the city's southeast, where a Chevrolet Cruze reportedly struck a light standard along the southbound portion of Anthony Henday Drive and caught fire.
