OTTAWA - Shopify's chief operating officer is leaving the e-commerce software company.Â
In a regulatory filing dated today, the company says Kaz Nejatian's last day with the company will be on Friday.
The filing also says Nejatian's responsibilities will be assumed by Shopify's executive team.
It describes the team as a strong group with deep experience.
The company did not give a reason for the departure.Â
Nejatian had been with the company for six years, the filing says.Â
“Kaz spent six years with us, building products that matter and making merchant services a core part of Shopify. We’re now entering an exciting arc in our history, with AI speeding up our progress and a team that’s stronger than ever," Ben McConaghy, a Shopify spokesperson, said in a statement.Â
"Tobi (Lütke) will stay focused on product and the big picture, supported by an executive team whose deep leadership experience sets us up to build on our advantage.â€
